1. Galpin clock

A clock (by Galpin of Grahamstown) was given to the Methodist Church, Salem for preservation of 3 year old son George by his parents S.B. SHAW 1868, Principal of Salem Academy. Born in 1820 in Dorset, England, Henry Carter GALPIN trained as an architect, surveyor and civil engineer, as well as a chronometer, clock and watchmaker.
