Additional information:- Carolus Johannes VAN AARDT was born (from a calculation from the inscription on his headstone) on the 8th May 1801 in the Cape of Good Hope. He died on the 4th February 1829 on Modderfontein Farm near Somerset East, Eastern Cape of Good Hope. His headstone was found by a descendant Willem VAN AARDT on the farm Modderfontein has been cleaned and framed in angle iron and re-erected in the Van Aardt Family graveyard on the farm Baviaans'krans, near Somerset East. Carolus Johannes was the son of Frans Johannes VAN AARDT and Susanna Wilhelmina TREGARDT. He was christened on the 25th November 1801 Cape of Good Hope. He was married to Maria Johanna Wilhelmina VAN DER VYVER. Marie died on 28 Dec 1874 at Graaff-Reinet. eGGSA captions by: Lorraine Beechey, Magda Alberts, James Anderson, Riana le Roux & Annel Meyer.
