Crematorium information:- The Crematorium was opened in 1959. To date some 30,000 people have been cremated there. The Wall of Remembrance has about 2,000 Plaques and the Garden of Remembrance about 1,000, making a total of 3,000 - approximately ten percent of all the cremations to date. The remainder have had the ashes taken by the next of kin and scattered.

Brian's project was organised a follows: Phase 1: Photographing and transcribing all the registers at the crematorium - this he has achieved. They can be searched, and some can be viewed, at: http://www.eggsa.org/transcriptions/CambridgeCrematorium/CambridgeCrematorium.htm

Phase 2: Photographing all the plaques on the wall of remembrance - they were divided into panels and appear in the sub-album 'Wall of Remembrance'

Phase 3: We are currently working on getting all plaques from the garden of remembrance onto the web. Some of the already appear in the sub-album 'Ashes'. Phase 4: The final phase will be linking those individuals in the registers to their plaque in the garden or wall of remembrance. Some of the links have already been done. It is a rather time consuming exercise! A big thank to Brian Barrett for the tremendous amount of work he has put into the photographing, transcribing and captioning of this material. Also to Richard Ball and Alta Griffiths for their help in realising the project online.
