Cemetery information:- Bunting Wesleyan Mission was established in November 1830 by Rev. William Binnington Boyce as the mission of Faku and the amaPondo. It was initially established near to Faku’s Great Place between the Mngazi and Mngazana Rivers and moved to its third location at Nquba or Turvey’s Bush in 1839. It relocated again in 1864 much closer to Mthatha town. This is the only grave visible in this area, no headstone, concrete slab only, no inscription visible. The grave has been pointed out as the grave of Rev. Samuel PALMER and referred to in the publication Basil Holt, 1961, “Old Bunting (Turvey’s Bush)”, Africana Notes & News 14:5. The publication also refers to his death around 1846, when he fell from his horse and died of heart failure.
