ERASMUS Johanna Gertina 1877-1878
The headstone of Johanna Gertina ERASMUS is so badly broken that some pieces of the headstone were found scattered at the entrance to the cemetery. Vandalism has obviously played a great part in the destruction of this headstone. It is now virtually impossible to decipher any of the text. Many pieces of the ‘puzzle’ are now missing.
We are once again grateful to Mauritz Naude for his earlier records of the inscriptions. According to him, the inscription on Grave 5 read as follows:
Johanna Gertina ERASMUS geb 1877 en 1878 overleden.
