Dr Spencer's record was compiled in the 1960s. In 1999, Dr Spencer revised her list incorporating Mrs Brink's record and the records of the St James's Church held at the Killie Campbell Museum. I have added information I have gathered concerning the Macks of Isipingo and the Mack link to the Byrne Valley. The eGSSA website has some photos of the Mack graves at Isipingo and all the graves at the St Mary Magdelene's Churchyard Byrne. This listing does not distinguish between burial sites / graves and memorial plaques where cremation has taken place. As far as is known no memorial wall existed. The implementation of the Group Areas Act was partly responsible for the decision to demolish the 92 year old St. James's Church in 1964. This sealed the fate of the graveyard. The old St James's Churchyard is now no longer. Having been neglected it would appear it was totally vandalised. The fate of the graves, most of them listed in this record , is unknown but more than likely it is beyond recovery which makes this listing such an important record. This listing was obtained by me from the Killie Campbell Museum in 1999 and is hereby acknowledged. Gerald Buttigieg. (Byrne, March 2015.)
