Cemetery / Memorials Information:

This statue/ memorial of John Ross is on the grounds of the John Ross Building, corner of Victoria Embankment and Mill Street, Durban. Mary Stainbank is/was a well known Durban artist who also did artworks for the Addington Children's Hospital, Durban. 
John Ross' real name was Charles Rawden MacLean, an apprentice to Lt James S King.  (Denys Botha)

The John Ross House in Durban is a 33-storey skyscraper on Victoria Embankment.

It is named after "John Ross" (real name, Charles Rawden MACLEAN ), who at the age of 15 walked from Port Natal to Delagoa Bay and back to procure medicine and supplies. His statue stands outside the building.
