The stone reads (as far as I can make out) IN AFFECTIONATE REMEMBRANCE OF JAMES CUNDILL THE BELOVED SON OF W [ ] S TRANMER Born August [2]nd 187[5] Died Jul[ ]th 1878 The birth date is indistinct but confirmed by the entry in the PMB birth register. (transcribed as FRANMER) The baptism date as given on [url=http://www.e-family.co.za/]e-family.co.za[/url] is 21st September 1875. This entry also confirms the date of birth. Some of the details on the gravestone where worn away. I have found a notice of his death from the Natal Witness. This gives his date of death as 30 July 1878. The notice appeared in the Witness dated the 3rd August 1878.TRANMER James Cundill (?) Death 30 Jul 1878 at Prospect Place near Pmburg; son of Wilhem(?) & Sarah Tranmer aged 3 years (death date unclear)
