12. Plaque - re-interment 1927

The mortal remains, memorials, headstones etc were removed, with the consent of the Imperial Authorities from the Old Military Cemetery, Fort Knokke by the Railways and Harbours Administration, in conjunction with the S.African Soldiers Graves Association, in November 1927. This was rendered necessary, owing to the site being required for Railway purposes and was carried out, with all reverence, by the Maitland Road Cemetery Board.
