Lt. I. GUNN, Cape Town Highlanders. Killed during "slogging match" after the initial attack whilst trying to establish a breakthrough into enemy lines - 24 Oct. "With admirable calm, a section of Engineers under Cpl. W.A. AITCHESON breached the minefields and B Coy, though badly cut up, reached its objective. There they were without support. One platoon, having lost its platoon commander, Lt. I. GUNN, who died in the minefield, withdrew to Bn HQ......." Pg 435.
